Wonderful Experience
We stayed 4 nights at the Sonoran Sea and it was a wonderful experience. The suite was clean, comfortable, and had a wonderful view! The staff was friendly and very attentive. I look foward to bringing my family back next summer!

Perfect!
Very happy with my time spent at the Sonoran Sea! Lobby, rooms, grounds and pools are all very well kept. The rooms are as close to the beach as you can get!

Amazing View and Pool
Breakfast buffet was delicious. The condo was nicely decorated and very comfortable. We had a few problems with the condos maintanence. The microwave did not work, the door was jamming, and the remote to the television did not work. When we asked if it could be fixed maintenance stated the owner would need to fix the door. They tried to fix the microwave, but it needed to be replaced entirely, since we were leaving the next day we did not want to bother with waiting for maintanence to come back and have to wait for him who knows how long. We wanted to enjoy our vacation. They tried to fix the remote control, but the universal remote they had was not compatible and once again the owner would have to fix it. The front desk did not tell us the room would not be cleaned every day, which was not a big problem, but good to know. You have to request clean towels if you need them and housekeeping will bring them to you. If anything needs fixing, they will tell you the owner of the condo will be sent an e-mail or is aware of the problem and owner would have to fix it. Other than that, the pool and view is amazing.

Sonoran Sea
The resort looks great, the swim up bar is a great feature. The food was a little lacking and the maintenance was a little lacking, but overall a great place.

Great Family & Friends Vacation
Our condo was wonderful. The views amazing. The staff very friendly. The pools and beach were great. Our friends stayed a few doors down and had a great time also. We plan to return.

wonderful mother's day getaway
We had a wonderful time at the Sonoran Sea Resort this Mother's Day weekend. The hospitality and service was above average. The front desk personel was very informative and always available to answer any questions. We stayed in one of the 1 bedroom 1 bath suites which was very clean, well furnished, and overall cozy. The pool area was clean and the swim up bar lively but not rowdy. You gotta try the Rocky Hawaiian drink.

Disappointed
We stayed at the SS the week between Christmas and New Years and had a great experience but we weren't so lucky this time around. We rented a 3 bedroom and it just didn't compare to the 1 bedroom we had before. The owner's of this unit have really let it go. The walls, especially near light switches, were filthy. The master bathtub had a brown film in it. Many of the lights didn't work at all. The blinds in the master bedroom were broken and wouldn't open. The lock on the sliding door was broken. The DVD player in the master bedroom didn't have any cables. There was maintenance being done on a nearby unit so the daytime hours were very, very noisy with non-stop hammering. They had both hot tubs shut down for maintenance (grouting on the surrounding area which they should have staggered, closing only one at a time).

Sonoran Sea condos
Both condos in need of repairs and ungrading of furnishings. Beds awful, TV equipment didn't work, dishwasher broken, cabinets and dresser drawers broken, kitchen flatware missing, and overall not up to same standards of units we stayed in last May.

HERMOSO SONORAN SEA
This was my wife and I first travel to Puerto Peñasco, and everything was just wonderful, we loved the Sonoran Sea, we are going to go back, again, again and again, grettings from Mexicali, Mexico

Great Vacation Place
This is our third year staying at the Sonoran Resorts. We were not disappointed with our stay there. The rooms are clean and there was everything we needed to make ourselves feel at home. If we needed anything, the front desk was quick to help us. Looking forward to our next annual trip next year.

LOVE THIS RESORT
THIS IS MY FAVORITE RESORT OUT OF THE SONORAN'S SO FAR I LOVE THE SWIM UP BAR AND HOW FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL EVERYONE IS.

Better than I wished!!!
This resort was FANTASTIC!!! The view from the balcony of the water, the enormous and luxurious accomodations, and especially the Master bath/ shower which was very sexy. But the best thing of all was the bang for the buck! Very reasononably priced. Thank you Sonoran Sea.

Stay at Sonoran Sea Aug/2007
During four days no room service was delivered to our condo, one day we ran out of water. For reasons mentioned the stay was not perfect or excellent. You have really impresive facilities, don't forget important service details. In our last vacations we spent great time at Princesa de Peñasco, which is maybe lower in rate comparing with Sonoran Sea, but excellent room service and more than decent facilities maintenance program.

Great Vacation
We have been to Rocky Point several times and usually stay at the Sonoran Sun. This time we stayed at the Sonoran Sea. Both resorts are great. The staff was very helpful and would go out of their way to fullfill a request. We like the Sonoran Sun better because of the restaurant and bar onsite and on weekends they have music in the courtyard. However both resorts are a steal for the money. We ate at the restaurant at the Reef and it was 5 star I would highly recomment it. On another note my husband had a severe allergic reaction to something while we were there. The resort staff, ambulance and hospital were very professional and although the hospital looked a little scary (old and out of date) the care was professional and appropriate. FYI the hospital did not take credit cards only cash.

Can't wait to go back!
It was absolutly beautiful! Our room was at the very bottom with a ocean view! The only thing I didn't like was that the pools closed at 10pm! Come on now is ROCKY POINT! We wanted to PARTY!! But overall it was GREAT!!!

Beautiful Room, Average Stay!!
I'll start out positive and say we were came 7/20-7/23 and our 3 bedroom 3 bath penthouse was beautiful!! We had a total of 16 people in 3 different rooms and all of them were very nice!! But...the two large pools were closed for maintenance, on a weekend when you pay premium prices for staying there!! That left the swim up bar (toilet pool)! We were told we could use the pools at the Sonoran Spa, but our group being mature adults, we preferred the swim up bar pool which they do not have there. Maintenance should be done during the week when people haven't paid top dollar to be there! There should be security at the pool to make sure everyone is behaving and can enjoy the pool! If they close down the big pools they should suggest those with small children go next door and leave the bar pool more adult. People were packed in there and the quality of people were amazing. I honestly felt like I was in the trailer park daycare pool!! This was my only disappointment of the trip, but when that's the main reason you go it weighs pretty heavy!!

This is an excellent getaway
We just returned from our first visit to Puerto Penasco. We stayed at the Sonoran Sea Resort and had the greatest time. The resort was beautiful and well cared for. I would without reservation recommend this experience.

Good Resort But Recommend Mayan Palace
THE SONORAN SEA IS A REALLY NICE RESORT WITH GREAT OCEAN VIEWS FROM YOUR ROOM BUT I RECOMMEND THE MAYAN PALACE!

July 03, 2007
Just like Paradise!
We were beyond thrilled when we first walked into the resort. It was more than we ever could have hoped...the view from our condo was beautiful and the decor was inviting. You can bet that we'll be planning future vacations at the Sonoran Sea, but next time we'll have to stay longer than just a weekend!

Can't wait to go back!
One word describes our vacation! FABULOUS!!!!

More crowded, but still great
We stayed at the Sonoran Sea 6/2/07 - 6/4/07. I decided to try a different condo, and although the new one was nice, the bed and furniture was nowhere near the quality of the bed in my previous condo. It was still nice overall, and I didn't have any of the problems I read about in some of the other reviews. The pool appeared clean, I didn't notice any bugs, the air conditioning worked, no plumbing problems, and the swim-up bar drinks were still great (pina colada, strawberry daquiri - both excellent!). The bartenders at the swim-up bar are a bit unfriendly, okay - they almost never smiled and looked annoyed. If I was serving drunk Americans all day I might be that way, too. The beach/resort is definitely more crowded than just a few years ago, and there were more families with children. However, it was the older teens and younger 20's crowd - that proved the most obnoxious. They set off fireworks each night, and during the day even had the audacity to open their deck doors and blast really loud, gangsta style rap music, replete with lots of "f" words, for the listening enjoyment of all the little children in the pool area. I don't know if security told them to turn it down, but if they did, it only went from really obnoxious loud to still loud (and this was early afternoon). Still, the resort and the ocean are both beautiful - the water is clear and the sand perfect. If you go, please don't leave trash on the beach. The little, tiny restaurant at the Spa next door, the Sonoran Grill, is really quaint - order the shrimp in cream sauce or the ribeye! The waitresses were very friendly. I love the place - I think the key is to find the right condo and stick with it.

Beautiful Condo with Amazing View
We stayed in two 2 bedroom condos on the eight floor at the Sonoran Sea with family and friends (in town to see the Roger Clyne "Circus Mexicus" show). The rooms were fantastic. Living space included enormous sliding glass doors with entry to a HUGE deck overlooking the resort pool and adjoining beach. View was amazing. Master bedrooms were very nice, and had separate entries to the deck. Master bathroom was high end with all marble shower. Accomodations included fully functional kitchen. Coolers were allowed on pool deck (but no glass).

Fun in the Sun!!
We loved this place...our room was beautiful and the beach was amazing. I have been to Rocky Point many times but never had such a great experiace. The resturant was very good also. I highly recommend the breakfast on the weekends. The bar staff was also really nice and knew their stuff. Try the flamming coffee, its very entertaining to watch them make it. Also you must go on the Fiesta Cruise while in Rocky Point. It proves to be a good time over and over again. Have fun at the Sun!!

Great Family Vacation 4/8/07
This was our first trip to "Rocky Point". The Sonoran Sea Resort was Excellent. We cannot wait to go back. The grounds are very clean. The beach is one of the cleanest we have seen. There were only a few draw backs. The Store at the resort closes to early, as well as the Snack shack on the resort grounds. There is a great Bar & Grill at the Sonoran Sun Resort (next door) but they are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Not practical. I do think for the amount of money you are spending to stay at such a nice resort, that they should a least have Lifeguards on the Beach. We will definetly be going back.

December 18, 2006
unfriendly service
I've stayed at the Sonoran Sea now twice, and will certainly return. The condos, common areas and view are excellent. The service however leaves a bit to be desired. I don't know if the staff have been exposed to one to many ugly Americans (and the loud, obnoxious woman next door to me during my first stay certainly qualifies), but they barely acknowledge your existence when waiting on you, much less "service with a smile". Additionally, this place sorely needs a restaurant, though if they had one I shudder to think what the service would be like. That horrid beach cafe in the parking lot doesn't count. Finally, it was made VERY clear in the rental agreement that pets are not allowed, with a penalty of EVICTION if it was violated. Imagine my surprise when a dog peeked it's head around the corner of my balcony.

Room and amenities
Our first visit to Rocky Point started off as a sheer dissapointed as our original reservation turned out to be a filthy room with little to now amenities to speak of. We decided to leave after one day and head home to Phoenix early. On the way out, we stopped by to see what the Sonoran Sea Resort was all about and was pleasantly surprised. This resort is absolutely gorgeous and the room was equally as gorgeous. We will definately come back and when we do, we will stick with the Sonoran properties. We are looking forward to our visit back sometime this fall/winter. Very Satisfied Customer.

An Awesome Place!
For our last three visits (all within the past year), we have stayed at the Sonoran Sea. Our reservation requests were honored to the letter, and the condos were of exceptional quality. This last trip, a spur-of-the-moment weekend get-a-way, was especially terrific, as there weren't too many guests (slow weekend). The staff was attentive and courteous: they even played my favorite Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers CD at the pool! We will continue to stay at the Sea, and encourage others to do the same!

Nice condo disgusting swiming pool
The condo was very nice and clean. The decoration was beautiful and the ocean view was to die for. However, the main swiming pool was extremely dirty. It had hairs, trash and the water was not clear at all. You couldn't even see the logo at the bottom of the pool, and people was swiming in it!! I complain and finally they closed it. We were there three days and I didn't see anybody cleaning the pools...and it showed!!

Great Family Vacation!
This was our second trip to stay at the Sonoran Sea Condos and we have loved it both times. We take our young children down and love the fact that we have the ocean, the beach, and the pools all right in one place. By the time we stayed there, the pools were in good shape again. Our unit was beautiful. We will definitely stay here again!

Our condo was fabulous, and the view was magnificient!
We were extremely pleased with Sonoran Sea Resort! The condo was beautifully decorated. The view was spectacular! Everything was there for us. We will definitely go there again.

GROUNDS AND SUBSTANDARD ROOM
WE STAYED AT THE SONORAN SEA FROM JULY 20TH TO THE 24TH. OUR FIRST ROOM 609E WAS A DISASTER. THE BED WAS THE WORST IN MY 40 YEARS OF MEMORY IN NUMEROUS HOTELS AND MOTELS. AFTER SWITCHING ROOMS TO 509W WE WERE PLEASE THE NEXT DAY. THOSE OWNERS SAVED THE TRIP WITH THE ACCOMODATIONS. WHAT WAS BY FAR THE WORST WAS THE CLEANLINESS OF THE GROUNDS. IT APPEARED NO ONE CLEANS DURING THE DAY, ESPECIALLY IN AND AROUND THE POOL. BY THE END OF THE DAY THERE IS TRASH, FOOD, EMPTY CANS AND BOTTLE TOPS WHICH IN TURN DRAW ANTS, FLIES, AND BEES. THE LOUNGE CHAIRS ARE UTILITARIAN AT BEST AND WITH NO CUSHIONS ARE UNCOMFORTABLE. MANY HAVE BROKEN OR CRACKED SLATS WHICH CAUSED A BRUISE ON MY WIFE. NOT A LUXURY RESORT PROPERTY, ESPECIALLY FOR THE AGE. ON CHECK OUT MORNING OF THE 24, THERE WAS OVERFLOWING GARBAGE ON THE GROUND FLOOR TRASH CANS SURROUNDED BY BEES AND VARIOUS REFUSE SPREAD IN AND AROUND THE ENTRANCE TO THE LOBBY. I SUGGEST STEAM POWER CLEANING THE STAIRS AND PARKING LOT AND CONCRETE SURROUNDING THE POOL. ALL AREAS WERE FILTHY.YOU COULD SEE MANY UNITS THAT HAD RUSTED CEILING FANS AND RUSTED PATIO FURNITURE AND THE TRASH ON THE BEACH WAS POOR. OVERALL, I WOULD NEVER ADVISE ANYONE TO STAY AT THE SONORAN SEA.

I am taking the time to do this while I'm still here
We have a three bedroom condo and it is beautiful! We are very happy! Service at the front desk is great but, as I've been reading and agree, the swim up bar could use some help. The staff out there seem a little under trained, almost shy. The front desk couldn't be more helpful, even drawing us maps for resturants. Resturants are definately needed in the area but the kitchens in the condos are very well equiped. We brought breakfast foods and stuff for lunches but planned on going out for dinners. After swimming and a few drinks you don't really want to drive to go out. We will be back though, its beautiful.

July 11, 2006
Green Algae Swimming Pools
The 2 bedroom condo was beautiful, but the resort is really showing poor maintenance. Sliding Doors have broken rollers and couldn't hardly be opened. Broken pool decking and stucco and missing roofing all over the resort. We stayed 4 nites, and chose Sonoran Sea for the beautiful pools. The two large pools were so green you couldn't see your hand in the water, and the filters were not running. We went in, because the aqua bar pool was so crowded with a busload of underage kids drinking and breaking beer bottles on the deck and in the pool. Complained to the staff and was told that the pool was safe. Woke up with an eye infection and found the 2 pools closed for the remainder (3 days) of our stay. Not my idea of a good vacation.

July 11, 2006
THIRD TIME
We have been staying at the sonoran sea's since the sonoran spa was built. We loved your hotels the environment it was clean the decor the staff everything was great. We stayed at the sonoran sea loved it there the sonoran sun didnt really compare to the sonoran sea besides the restaurant. The last 3 times we have stayed with you once at the sonoran sun and twice at the sonoran sea i have written 2 bad emails and this will be the 3rd. I am very unsatisfied with the hotel and it does make me unhappy we may have to look for a new hotel. I have not gotten any feedback to help resolve the problems. This last weekend we stayed with the sonoran sea we had a whole day in the blistering heat with NO AIR CONDITIONING the trash was never taken out and our towels were never changed.

July 10, 2006
DO NOT STAY HERE!
Our family stayed at Sonoran Sea the week of 7/2/06. From the moment we arrived we discoverd that the A/C was not working in the unit and our 3bdrm 2 bath unit was only a 1 bath unit because the shower did not work. Our family spent the first night without A/C or a second shower and the entire next day of our vacation was spent waiting on maintenance staff. Diagnosis-A/C needed breaker re-set every hour to two and the shower needed totally rebuilt after maintence staff member broke the shower head and couldn't determine the problem. By day three when we thought we could enjoy the pool, we discovered the filter was not working and the pool was as green as the grass outside the first floor units. The duration of our trip our kids spent time in the swim up bar area with drunk obnoxioux teens who started fights with other guests. Our last night of our visit was once again spent with no A/C and after major complaining one maintenance staff member came up but could not diagnose the problem and called the supervisor who decided not to show up. At check out we spoke to the manager regarding all the problems that we had to endure during this 5 day visit, he basically told us that's the way it was and to "go to hell!" if you didn't like it. Ironically we felt we had been in hell during this week!

June 28, 2006
Recent Stay
The resort is great. The accommodations are first class. About the only complaint I have is about some of the security staff who were a little too strict. My friend was grilling in the grills outside in the parking lot and he had the radio of his car on with the doors open. The car was parked right next to the grilling area and it was not loud at all. One of the security told him he needed to turn it off, because someone would complain. Not lower it, but turn it off all together.

June 28, 2006
Sonoran Sea Condos
We stayed at the Sonoran Sea Condos & were very surprised at the quality of the rooms. We did have an initial A/C problem that was fixed when they moved us to a new room. The views, pools and beach are beyond spectacular. We had a great visit.

June 26, 2006
Always a good time
We stayed at the Sonoran Sea again recently for three days, and once again had a great time. The one thing you must always be proactive with is checking for damages and broken items as soon as you check-in. If not reported, you will be charged for it at check-out. We have learned to go through the rooms carefully and report anything to the front desk immediately.

June 26, 2006
Great experience
I had been to Sonoran Sea once before, but my children decided they wanted to take a family vacation, so I said lets go to Rocky Point. They were not to excited to go, and thought they would have to camp out, or stay at some low rate hotel, but were they amazed when they saw the resort, the only thing they were sorry about was that they couldn't stay longer. We will be booking another stay in the near future.

June 08, 2006
Great resort and beach-- unfriendly staff
Overall the resort was wonderful. Clean, the pools and grounds were nice and the beach is excellent. However the front desk staff could not be more unfriendly or maybe, bored with their jobs. I am glad I did not need anything from them other than checking in and out of the resort.

May 23, 2006
Get rid of the wrist bands..
I completely agree with the previous review. I don't see the need for the wrist bands at the Sonoran Sea. It makes a 'classier' experience and nice resort appear to be a "college - age only" party where only those w/bands are allowed in. The guests at the resort this weekend (05/27/2006) were families, couples, young and old. If you don't want people at the pool, then put a gate around the entrance & exits and require a key to access that area.

May 23, 2006
It was wonderful!
The Sonoran Sea was the nicest place I have ever vacationed in. Honestly! The rooms were spotless, the view outstanding, the pool delightful, and the employees were extremely nice, and very helpful. My first trip to Rocky Point was wonderful. It won't be my last, and the Sonoran Sea will be the place I will stay.

May 23, 2006
Poor attidudes at the swim up bar
Very bad service at the swim up bar. The ladies that work there need to smile a little more, be more attentive to the guests and they'll get better tips. Everything else about our stay was great!

May 23, 2006
Wrist bands
I really like the Sonoran Sea except for one thing. GET RID OF THE WRIST BANDS!!!!! These things drive me crazy! I think it creates a really cheap, low class image.

May 03, 2006
Heated Bar Pool
We had a fantastic time at the Sonoran Sea, however I was very disappointed with the service at the swim up bar. The bartenders were rude and seeemed put out to make a coctail. In addition, it was not pleaseant to sit at the swim up bar, beacasue of all the kids in the pool with floats, squirt guns etc. The Adult hot tubs were also filled with kids who were using it as swimming pool. I choose this particular condo for the "pool bar" and felt as thought I was not able to take advanatage of it. Perhaps it would be better if one of the other pools were heated for kids to play in.

May 03, 2006
Blown Away!
When we entered the 3 bedroom, 3 bath premium condo we were blown away by how nice it was. We are already planning another trip. I would definitly recommend staying at the Sonoran Sea

April 27, 2006
Poor Service bad attitude
Our Stay at the Sonoran Sea was horrible. We had lousy service and the manager betty was actually mean and rude to our family when we asked for additional help.

April 25, 2006
Stayed there for weekend trip........
This was the first time I had stayed at the Sea and two of my friends were with me.... we loved the place except that there were limited food service times and we loved the food at the aquabar--- but they close at 7pm!!!! That was bad. We loved the clean rooms but if anything could be changed it should be a restaurant added, and the pool bar open til 9pm or something like that. By the way, the Cooks and Bar staff in the Aqua bar were great!! They were funny and talked to us all throughout the pool time we were there!!! Loved them!!!!!

April 14, 2006
excellent great
We have been in the hotel for the past two years. It's great we plan to be there for labor day weekend everything is great. We are nine brothers and sisters. We are married and have kids. we all go together for that weekend its great. I don't think we will change of hotel. We love the services there. I recommend this hotel to everyone.

April 14, 2006
Great Location But Need Clearer Directions
The resort itself is very pleasant and I will probably make a return visit. Infrastructure on the approach to the resort area needs improvement. Signs need to be erected giving clear directions. Finding this area at night is difficult.

March 30, 2006
We Were Very Disappointed
The condos are nice by themselves, but the lack of conveniences such as restaurants, shopping, and entertainment left me very unhappy with four small children. There were no restaurants with authentic food worth eating, no shopping and no real entertainment on the beach besides banana boating. I think the continual harrassment by the locals for shopping on the beach was an annoyance and there were no forms of entertainment being offered from our beach, ie parasailing, real boating, or rides of any types. I was very disappointed in the resort and will choose a resort-type location for our next trip, it will be worth the money, We were told we would have clean towels each day and the policy had changed, so we were pretty disappointed and there were way more college age kids making terrible noise at night than we were promised when we booked the trip. Sorry, it was a very disappointing and dismal trip for our family, We won't go back.

March 25, 2006
This has become our destination resort
My family has vacationed for many years in San Diego, and for the past few years we have been traveling to Rocky Point from Phoenix. We have stayed at a few properties in Puerto Penasco, and nothing yet has compared for the price and quality of our visit to the Sonoran Spa. The staff is very courteous, and helpful, the property is beautiful, and is designed to be enjoyed by its guests. We have stayed in two different rooms, and were delighted by the decor and comfort. I have worked in hotel resorts in the states for 18 years, and I have many options as to where I choose to vacation. The Sonoran Spa has become first on my list. Thank you for a wonderful vacation.

The Good and Bad
The condo was wonderful! We could not have asked for a nicer unit; it was beautifully decorated and had every amenity possible. The few negative things that we noticed was that we did not receive any cleaning (towels, etc.) each day, nor did we have bottled water in the room, as advertised. The signage was also poor at entrance in locating the condos.

What a pleasant surprise!!!
We just returned from a weekend at the Sonoran Sea resort and what a magnificent place! I had never been to Rocky Point (Bob has been there but before we met, MANY years ago -- maybe even 30?). The weather was perfect, the views were superb, the amenities were unending. The place is clean, sparking, and stunningly decorated. The staff were quite helpful in most cases, though we did run across a couple of desk clerks who could have used a bit more 'personality'. We went into town for our evening meals, and the best by far was the Costa Brava. The pool was lovely, there were no pesky insects and the local residents seemed quite friendly and helpful. We can't wait to go back. Thanks so much to the Sonoran Resorts for providing a getaway so close to home. (we live in Tucson).

Great experience @Sonoran Sea
We just came back for a 1 night stay at Sonoran Sea. First trip to Rocky Point in 20 years. Earlier experiences were not positive so it took some convincing from more recent visitors to get us to try again. It was great. The resort was above average, the service from the staff was good, it was clean throughout. We went on the weekend after New Years so it was very low occupancy which was nice. Pool and jacuzzi are fantastic. The exercise room has equipment equal to or better than our gym in the Phx area. I'm not sure we'll ever schedule a weekend at peak season because we don't enjoy a packed beachfront and jet ski noise and I hear that's how things are at peak times. We have a restaurant recommendation we're pleased to offer because it was such a nice experience. Try Casa del Costa Brava on the hill above the fish market. Service was the best, food was wonderful, prices very reasonable. The restaurant is now in the family home after a fire at the original location 2 years ago and the home is beautiful. The staff makes sure you KNOW they are glad you are there - not an experience you find even in the best big city restaurants. Try it!

Wonderful Trip
Sonoran Seas was wonderful. Our condo unit was beautiful facing the Sea of Cortez. Staff lacked a bit of help and english but tried to help. Need more shade around the pool area, but all else is exactly what we were looking for!

December 14, 2005
Not much went well!
Upon arival to our condo, the first thing we saw was a very soiled comforter on our bed. We were told at the office that don't clean them. That would have been okay if our heater had worked! We ended up sleeping in sweaty clothes and our coats on top of us. The next morning after working out, we found our water line had busted so I could not take a much needed shower. When we called the main office, no compensation was given only a future discount if we stayed one more day. We spent the whole morning waiting for someone to come fix the heat and see if and/or when we would have water. About 1p.m. we decided to pack up and ship out. Some vacation. We were not impressed for almost a 150.00 stay!

Some issues this stay
We have stayed at the Sonoran Sea Several times in the past. This time we were somewhat dissapointed. The first night we had no heat. It wasn't fixed until the following afternoon. The second night when I used the bathtub, and went to drain it, the water started coming up through the floor drain. I also have a suggestion that the spa could put in an ATM machine for the convience of the guests.

Rocky Point is now my Fav!!
From my friendly, helpful reservation girl MISTY to the awesome condo I was given... this was my most romantic trip EVER!!! I didn't expect much, just to have a beach to chill on, but I was VERY HAPPY with all that Rocky Point and the Sonoran Sea had to offer! You must do this, it's worth EVERY dollar! -C

From Rocky Start to Rocky Point
I wanted to thank the entire staff at the Sonoran Sea Resort. When we arrived we found our reservation had been cancelled. We had no idea how this had come about. We had received a confirmation of the reservation on the Tuesday prior to our weekend and thought we were set. I have to say when we arrived and weren't in the system it took us by surprise. The quick response of the desk staff and the communication between the resort and Reservations at the Point turned the weekend into one of relaxtion and enjoyment for all in our party. The pool and access to the beach were just what we needed. The staff are kind and greeted us each time we passed. The effort of the groundskeepers are well paid off by the gorgeous landscape that surrounded us everyday. We look forward to our next stay and thank you for a wonderful experience.

Great but....
They need to make fireworks illegal in the area of their resorts.... I hate trying to sleep at 12am with cherry bombs going off all around the hotel.

October 24, 2005
Water Problems
Something should be done about the water situation. Guests should not be without water. While there, we were without water for one whole day and two nights. It would be a good idea to have some post cards, stamps and a place to get mail picked up.

October at Sonoron Sea
The resort was very nice all in all. There were three problems during our stay. First we never had TV reception despite complaining every day. At the end of our stay the desk clerk admitted that they had called maintainence but nothing was done. Second the shower by the beach was malfuntioning. The staff solved the problem by blocking off access to the beach from the west tower rather than just the shower area itself. This was very inconvenient. Finally security was too lax. Teenagers were setting off fireworks very late into the night on several nights of our stay disrupting everyone's stay, not just ours.

Sonoran Sea Resort
The condo was excellent!! The staff was wonderful! This was the best condo/resort that I have stayed at. A concern of ours was how long it would take to get a cab, since the Sandy Beach resorts are located a bit out of town, but it only took 3-5 minutes The front desk was very helpful. The front gate guys were great. I also liked how there was always security around. I felt completely safe. The beach was beautiful! It was VERY clean. I was impressed that we actually did get freash towels and toilet paper as promised. Other condos I have stayed at have said they give you towels and tp, but it never happened. I think the best part of the trip was the swim up bar. What a relaxing way to spend the day!! The only thing I didn't like was the lack of restaurants in the Sandy Beach area (who wants to cook on vacation), but I'm guessing more restaurants are planned for the future. I would definetly stay at the Sonoran Sea again in the future and will recommend the Sonoran Sea to anyone traveling to Rocky Point.

Fabulous, Fun & Family Friendly
The Sonora Sea resort was a superb choice for my seven sisters and me; there was plenty of room in the condo for everything we needed: sleeping, cooking, eating, playing, bathing. The porch overlooked the ocean and beach on two sides, and the swimming pool, jucuzzi as well. Couldn't have been better! The town of Puerto Penasco is small enough to still be friendly and personal. It's a great vacation choice.

October 18, 2005
Closest thing to Paradise
I can't begin to tell you what an awesome time we had at the Sonoran Sea. Three Generations and there is something for everyone!! From the time we woke up in the morning having breakfast on the patio watching the dolphins to viewing the spectacular sunset...and of course everything in between. We can't wait to return!! Thank you for treating us like royalty.

October 15, 2005
Great Vacation but some minor comments
I REALLY ENJOY THE SEA AT ROCKY POINT. I DO WANT TO SUGGEST MAYBE PUTTING LIGHTS ON THE TENNIS COURTS AND OVER THE VOLLEYBALL COURT AREA FOR NIGHT TIME FUN.MAYBE EVEN CONSIDER SERVING DRINKS AT THE POOL AREA WITH WAITERS? OTHERWISE,IT IS A GREAT PLACE TO RELAX..LOVE IT

October 14, 2005
This is the place for us!!
Upon arriving at the resort we did have to wait an hour for the room to be ready. No problemo you are in Mexico! We were invited to use the pool and have fun while they prepared the room. Nice restrooms in the lobby to change into swim suits and off to the pool for the relaxation. Bring a small cooler with you for your chilly beverages of choice and kick back! The condo was beyond belief, much more than we expected. Gorgeous! Note: Bring food as we found the restaurant at the spa is closed on Wed..we went to the Sun restaurant, too expensive and not the "mexican food" we were looking for. It filled our bellies none the less. Went downtown the next day and shopped and purchased shrimp for our own shrimp taco's that night. The store at the Sea has everything you need, eggs, salsa, even pancake mix. The Snack Shack for a morning burrito or quesadilla is awesome too! Don't stress, relax. It can't get any better than the Sonoran Sea

October 12, 2005
Sonoran Sea
As far as we are concerned the Sonoran Sea has it all - our room was five star - pool and swim up bar were fantastic - and we found the food at the grill to be wonderful! Can't wait to go back!

October 11, 2005
Good Overall Experience
Everything was good. The condo was nice but needed to be aired out before our arrival. A little bit stale smelling. Otherwise our stay was good. It was out 2nd time there. Different condo though.

Sonoran Sea
Close to Cholla Bay,10 min. from downtowm. Has a little store in the resort for last minute things. Great views of Rocky Point and the ocean. Walk out of your room and you are on the beach, great pools, the kids loved it! We will be back next year!!!!!!

September 29, 2005
Very nice property but some things need changed
Our family had a wonderful time on our trip in August 2005. The unit we rented was beautifully decorated and the view of the sea was awesome. The property is very nice and the staff was accomodating but not very helpful about tourist activities and restaurants in the area. This resort needs a restaurant onsite. We found this to be a great disadvantage. The swim-up bar needs extended hours as does the pool. The pool opened at 9:00am and closed at 9:30pm! For a resort in Mexico the hours should be at least from 7:00am until midnight.

September 29, 2005
Best Mexico vacation
Just returned home and we are missing our Sonoran Sea vacation already! The room was nicely decorated, the service was great and the view...phenominal! You must try!

September 27, 2005
Good Experience
The rooms were perfect and a room on the ground floor that opens to the pools and beach just couldn't get any better. The rooms were clean and well equipped, and the grounds were well maintained. The people were all pleasant at all times. It was a wonderful mini vacation! My only 2 less than perfects was the noise level when the a/c came on and that there was no place to eat without going off grounds (-;

September 27, 2005
Food
You definitely need a wider range of food choices and restaurants. The hotel is gorgeous but it was very difficult to find good food in the area.

September 20, 2005
Terrific Vacation
We had a terrific vacation! In fact, I'm about to make another reservation for a week's stay! The security was a plus!

September 20, 2005
Beware, Condos are all indivually owned, some are better than others!
Please know that all condos are individually owned and decor and maintenance vary by the different condo owners. DO NOT STAY IN ROOM 710W AT SONORAN SEA. (this piece of info would have been very helpful to us prior, you may not get what you see on the websites photos, NOT a LUXURY resort) We stayed in Sonoran Sea Resort (sister property of Sonoran Spa...heard "Sea" was better) stayed in room 710W a 1 bedroom condo (DO NOT RECOMMEND). When we arrived, it took them 4 hours to make up the room from previous guest. Upon entering a fowl smell of mildew or something odd, looking into the a/c air filter on the ceiling was terrible as if it had never been changed. Only one tiny bar of soap supplied in the bathroom, nothing else. Decor is mixmatch, with green couches and 2 diff pink tone painted walls, very cheaply decorated and furnished, surprisingly for a unit on one of the highest floors for 1 bedroom condos. Light bulbs out and non-working hairdryer and filthy quilt like comforter on bed, even back up blanket in closet set with red stains, which never was fixed by management when brought to their attention. They don't care at the front desk, it's very poorly managed. Don't expect any customer service, after informing the manager on duty his only reply was "OK!". We checked out early the next morning, because we were so uncomfortable in our room and with the service. Pro's: nice pool w/ waterfalls and swim-up bar/grill, great beach/ocean views. Need a little more shade around the pool, so bring your own beach umbrella or chairs for the beach, they don't let you take the pool chairs on the beach. The rooms are equiped with full kitchen so bring your own food to cook there also is a stackable washer and dryer. Security present around the resort so it felt safe at all times. Recommendations: Restaurants close to the resort on the road toward Cholla Bay is "The Reef" Restaurant, good food and service. Also, in town "The Point" had great shrimp cocktail and shrimp boil dish was excellent and flavorful. Great views right over the ocean and rocks. Just remember it is the luck of the draw, on which room you get at the Sonoran Sea Resort. It's not a true resort, there is no room service or restaurant on site, your basically renting someones condo for your stay. Good luck!

Labor Day
I stayed at the Sea for the Labor Day weekend. The resort was good, the condo was fantastic and the resort staff was good. The only, but main complaint was the staff at the Agua Bar. The staff there ignored us, would not wait on us at all and was blatantly rude to us. Only after obtaining the assistance of a Mexican man who was kind enough to order for us, did we get any service. Unfortunately, this was the case everytime. The staff had the attitude that they would not wait on American's and would not wait on women either. Their overall attitude was not friendly, they did not smile, greet the guests or make any talk or anyone feel welcome. When we ordered alcoholic beverages, on our own or thru another Mexican guest, we paid the full price for the alcoholic beverage but there was no alcohol in our drinks. There were many American guests complaining of this and the poor service. As there is not a restaurant or bar on the premises other than the Agua Bar, this unfortunately, overshadowed our entire experience. When on vacation, we are paying higher prices to stay at the Sea and expect good service, which we did not get. Additionally, we don't want the hassle of a bad wait staff. We ended up going to the Spa or the Sun to hang out, eat and drink. I must say we had a better time at the other resorts and will stay there in the future instead of the Sea. Most disappointing.....

September 03, 2005
Awesome!!
We stayed here at the Sonoran Sea between August 21st thru 25th. We stayed in a one bedroom which I must say is more like a home than a hotel room. We had no issues with lack of water or towels. We had more clean towels than needed. We recommend 511E or 512E. 512E is an end unit so you have windows to the west as well. We spent a lot of time on the balcony. August is the hottest time down there in Rocky Point ( we found out later ) but being from Phoenix, we didn't mind. We spent most of our time in the pool or ocean. We arrived on a Sunday and left on a Thursday. Since its the hottest time of the year, we practically had the place to our selves. They have a nice work out facility thats HUGE and internet business center that was always available. The TV in the condo's ( if you actually watch it ) has local PHX channels and HBO which was nice. The aqua bar opens around 10AM and closes at 6PM. The food is unbelievable and cheap. We never had one issue with the staff at the aqua bar. Every staff member we encountered was extremely nice and friendly. One tip, apparently after a full moon, the waves are fairly big for about 3 days. We had to cancel our snorkeling trip, but did get to parasail. I would highly recommend this place. Enjoy !

August 24, 2005
Beautiful!
This is our second time at the Sonoran Sea this year. The staff, amenities, and accomodations were perfect for our family get-away. We appreciated the flexibility of making our own meals in the condo, and the opportunity to try various restaurants in town and nearby. We are making this resort our #1 choice for vacations.

August 16, 2005
Loved it, but the sun woke us up!
My family and I had a wonderful two night stay in a 1 bedroom condo. We thought the accomodations were perfect and the view of the pool and beach spectacular. We loved the swim up bar and all the different swimming pools. We found the resort to be clean and tastefully done. We walked down to the Sonoran Sun each evening to dine in their restauraunt which we found to be quite good. The only mild complaint I would have with our particular unit (312) is that with four of us occupying the condo, our two children slept out in the den/family room. There were no curtains to pull at night, so the bright Mexican sun came pouring in each morning very bright and early. It would have been nice to have a way of keeping out the sun until the kids were ready to wake up. Again, just a mild complaint, more of a suggestion. We would happily recommend the Sonoran Sea to friends and family in the Phoenix area, and hope to come back again soon sometime ourselves. Kathy Smoley

Sonoran See Review
You have an excelent location, great staff,I especially loved the snack bar at the swimming pool, the only issue that prevented me to give you the excelent rating was the fact that I did not see any restaurant, and I had to go outside the complex to eat, Yes I'm aware that we have all the neccesary appliances to make our own food but sometimes you want to pamper your selft and your partner and just want to enjoy at maximum, that was the only small issue, but anyway I'm looking forward to be able again to go spend a week end there, hopefully soon.

Treated like royalty
Sonoran Sea Resort had treated me and my wife like a king during our weekend stay. Everyone at the resort was very nice, from the Guard at the gate to the belhop that took our luggage to our room. Outstanding service! I wish we could have stayed longer. Thank You So Much Derek Doggett Buckeye, AZ

A Wonderful Getaway!
I brought my family to the Sonoran Sea resort for a long weekend getaway, and we all had a wonderful time! The condo, the view, the grounds, and the beach were all absolutely beautiful, and we were planning our next trip there before we'd even checked out. Even my 18 month old son had a blast, and it is very hard to keep him entertained when we travel. The only reason I rated the resort as average instead of excellent is because we found the pool and pool bar hours a bit ridiculous. The pool itself didn't open until 9 in the morning, and always had a line of anxious children waiting to jump in as soon as security would let them. It closed at 9:45 at night, which is too early to make a trip to the pool after dinner worthwhile. The bar has even shorter hours, though I didn't find them posted anywhere. Basically, you could get lunch or an afternoon drink there, but that's about it. Also, the condo rules clearly state that no animals are allowed on the property, and there were several dogs in surrounding condos that barked well into the night each night of our visit. Some people even let them swim in the pool with the guests. The staff saw this and did not react. Someone also set off fireworks every hour on the hour each night, to which the staff also did not react. These were also supposedly unallowed. Overall, it was a beautiful property and well worth the trip, but there were some small annoyances that I'm sure the property management can sort out in the near future.

August 09, 2005
Good Times
My family enjoyed your resort. The room was very nice. I think it was appropriately priced. It would be nice if you could hire a chef to cook in your room during your stay. It is nice to have the kitchen but while on vacation I do not like to cook. I would not pick anything above the 4th floor due to the elevator being so slow and stinky.

August 09, 2005
Almost perfect!!
This was our first visit to Rocky Point and it was awesome. The condo was amazing. It had everything and more that we needed. Only one complaint, we were told water would be refilled everyday, did not know we needed to go to the front desk to ask for it. Once we figured that out we were good. Loved the view from the condo. We will be back, very soon.

Needs a little training for more experienced Resorts
Our stay at the Sonoran Sea Resort was great for the most part. A few things that need work: Maid service. We didn't have towels. They'd pick up old ones, but never brought new until we complained. They don't come until late in the afternoon when no one is around to ask for things they need. Even ran out of toilet paper. Could never get bottled water for the stand in our room, and finally bought some in town. Rooms are absolutely gorgeous! Decorated to a "T"! Complete with just about everything you'd need and more. Views are awesome! Swim up bar at the pool was awesome, however the bartenders were NOT! They were not pleasant, acted like they were doing you a favor serving you. Would have been nice to have music, fun staff, etc., to go along with the beautiful atmosphere outside! They close WAY TOO EARLY! They should be open as long as the pool is at night. They'd make LOTS of money because the pool is crowded as long as it's open. Last, I think they should have a restaurant and/or snack bar. It's very inconvenient to find somewhere to eat when you don't want to drive. The Sonoran Spa has a restaurant, but their hours aren't very convenient.

August 03, 2005
A lot of good-some bad
This was our third stay (two at the Spa) this summer. We originally had room 307W, and would not recommend this room to anyone. The decorating was substandard for this resort, and it did not have blinds on the windows. The meat tray in the refrig. was broken upon arrival, which the resort tried to charge us for replacing. Be sure to do an inventory of your room and report any broken or damaged items. We moved to 706W and found it to be a very nice room for our stay the rest of the week. One of the front desk staff members worked hard at finding us a room with a sofa-sleeper. The view was spectacular and the cantelevered balconies provide much better viewing angles than the Spa. The female bartender at the swim up bar needs to be replaced. She's completely uninterested in serving the patrons. Overall we always enjoy our stay down there because we go with no expectations. This is not a five star resort in the States...it's in Mexico, and you must go with the mind-set that the service and amenities you're used to will not be there. Embrace the culture, people, and life-style, and you will have a fabulous time.

August 01, 2005
great resorts, beach OK
The Sonoran Sea was very good, the one-bedroom condo was excellent, nice furniture, clean, perfect conditions. The pool was terrific. The water was warm and the sunset great; only the beach... lots of trash! I did not see anybody cleaning the beach. Besides this detail, the resort was very, very good.

August 01, 2005
Need Additional Services
Only suggestion would be for someone to start a water taxi service to downtown. I would think that would really add to the experience if the resorts would partner together to offer this. Most other vacation cities in MX offer this.

July 29, 2005
Very nice accommodations
Stayed at the Sonoran Sea for three nights/four days in a 2 bdrm/2bath oceanfront condo. The resort was fabulous! Kids enjoyed swimming in the three swimming pools and having lunch at the "swim up" bar. Would definitely stay there again.

July 28, 2005
A great experience
This resort was fabulous. The 2 bedroom condo was well equipped and comfortable. The view was outstanding and the pool was always clean. We've stayed at a number of other resorts in Rocky Point and never had such great accomodations. The only thing it lacks is better on-site information about area restaurants, grocery shopping and attractions.

July 28, 2005
First of many trips to Rocky Point!
We spent 3 days at the Sonoran Sea and were not let down on anything but restaurant selection in the area. The only other thing we learned the first day was that the prices for beverages and food at the swim up bar were over priced and the service there was slow. BUT...our condo unit #612 was FANTASTIC. The owners had it decorated very well. We had a reat time lounging by the pool and walking along the beach collecting sea shells. Our next visit may not be to the Sonoran Sea, but its on our list of great places to stay.

July 25, 2005
Sonoran Sea
Overall experience was good. The view from our room 302W was beautiful. Below are the three pools, beyond that the Sea of Cortez and in the distance to the West was Puerto Penasco. The Tide pools in the early morning were spectacular-nature's beauty at it's finest. Our accomodations in the room were quite nice and comfortable. We did have a little trouble getting the appropriate number of towels from the staff. This was resolved with a visit to the lobby. A nice restaurant in the resort would be a nice touch. Also the ability to rent water toys (Boogie boards, skim boards and sea kayaks) from the resort would be a great addition. The Staff was very courteaous and professional. The overall appearance and cleanliness was very good. This resort is a definite re-visit and I would recommend to family and friends. Keep up the good work!

Sonoran Sea Losing Its Sparkle
I spent 5 nights at the Sonoran Sea (!7-22 July 2005) with my family. This was our second visit to the resort. We vacationed there last year as well. This year the pool was green with garbage floating in it the day we arrived. It remained green with minor improvements during our stay. My wife informed the front desk of the pool situation. Resort employees appeared to try to clean the pool without sucess. I had to take both of my children to see a doctor in Puerto Penasco for ear and throat infections. The doctor believes the infections were caused by the dirty pool water. We will not return to the Sonoran Sea unless we hear better reports on their pool maintenance. Thanks to Steve in the rental office for referring us to the doctor in Rocky Point.

July 21, 2005
What's the pet policy?
I've been told there are no pets allowed in the resort. I saw at least 5 people with dogs in the condos and on the beach.

July 21, 2005
Wonderful
This resort is one of the best I have stayed at in many years. I have traveled all over the world and the Sonoran Sea was perfect. Our room was decorated with beautiful furniture. It was very comfortable. Thank you for a relaxing time.

July 21, 2005
Wonderful Experience
This was my first stay at the Sonoran Sea Resort and I was delighted with the spacious room, the cleanliness and the perfect location right on the beach. I will come back soon!

July 21, 2005
Beautiful Resort
Our room was perfect and well maintained. We brought everything to cook our meals and found the room to be well stocked for meal preparation. The views were magnificent. This was our second trip to the Sonoran Sea and certainly will not be our last.

July 20, 2005
Overall we had a good time
Our first time in Rocky Point. The driving directions are a little confusing, we made a couple wrong turns before we found the Resort. We never recieved our second key and we did not get our water refilled. The service at the swim up bar is not very fast .The "Restaurant" which is next door - you have to drive arround the wall what divides the 2 resorts - (it seems pretty strange), is very small and filled with smoke, we did not get a table there and the waitress did not speak english. Our Condo was very good (could have been a little cleaner), we had an awsome view from the 8th floor. The beach is absolutly beautyful .

Top of the Line in Resorts
Was completely surprised to how beautiful the grounds were. Had a fabulous time. Looking forward to going back!!!!!!

July 12, 2005
Clean, but not accommodating
The resort was very clean and nice, especially for Rocky Point. The restaurant left some to be desired. Also, my husband got sick and we had to leave a day early (staying 4 nights) and the front desk was not accommodating on our early departure. They would not budge on the cancellation policy, not even 25%. They probably used our room that night for personal use since it was already paid for!

July 12, 2005
Sonoran Sea
Had an excellent time. Room was very comfortable with high quality furnishings. Premesis was well kept and clean. Staff was very plesent. Will definitely return.

July 12, 2005
Good and Bad
The Sonoran Sea Resort was great. The condo we stayed in was beautiful. The owners put a lot of LTC into their condo. The only recommendation is for the staff at the Sonoran Sea's front desk. They need to be better informed of locations, activites, etc. When asked about information, their response was to give you a binder and have you look up the information you requested. When we arrive at the condo the blinds from one of the bedrooms has fallen and there was nothing to cover the window. When we requested maintenance several times to repair the blinds their comment was that they didn't have a drill to fix it, and we had to cover the window with sheets. Other than dealing with the unfriendly front desk staff, the experience was great and we will be returning to your resort.

Sonoran Sea Weekend Getaway
Recently chose Sonoran Sea off the internet for a weekend getaway. Have not been to Sandy Beach resorts before and was surprised at the growth. Our reservation was for a 1 bedroom on the 7th floor. The only negative was that our room was not ready for check-in by the 4:00 pm check-in time. We were not checked in until after 5:00pm. Worth the wait...pleasant decor everything new and clean...room was perfect for small family...great views...pool area beautiful with swim up bar/snack bar. Would definitely stay again!

July 12, 2005
Sonoran Sea Resort
THANKS SOO MUCH TO THE PEOPLE AT RESERVATIONS AT THE POINT, I REALLY APPRECIATE YOU ALL FINDING OUR ACCOMIDATIONS AT THE SONORAN SEA AT THE LAST MINUTE. THE SONORAN SEA WAS GREAT. OUR ROOM WAS BEAUTIFUL AND THE VIEW WAS UNBELEIVABLE! WE'VE ALWAYS FELT LIKE WE'VE HAD TO HAVE A BOTTOM FLOOR FOR ACCESSABLE CONVENIECE, THIS TIME THERE WERE NO BOTTOM FLOOR ROOMS AVAILABLE AND WE WERE PUT ON THE 5TH FLOOR. WE DID'NT REALIZE THE VIEW WE HAD BEEN MISSING WAS SOO BEAUTIFUL. TRADING UP THE CONVENIENCE OF A BOTTOM FLOOR, FOR THE BEAUTIFUL VIEW WAS DEFINETLY NOT A PROBLEM, IT WAS SUCH A MONOR THING, THAT I'LL NEVER THINK TWICE ABOUT IT AGAIN.

July 10, 2005
Sonoran Sea Resort
We rented a 3-bedroom deluxe and it was beautiful. The view was fabulous and the room had everything we needed (pots/pans, dishes, etc.), even board games for the kids. We were surprised to find the room did not have a telephone, so expect to pay $1.50 a minute for phone calls from the lobby. The only complaint we had was the service at the swim up bar at the resort. Expect to wait 15 minutes for anyone to even pay attention that you're there but the drinks are good. Also, parents of teens beware...they serve anyone. I would definitely stay at the Sonoran Sea again though. Very relaxing vacation.

July 07, 2005
Management at the Sonoran Sea
I really enjoyed the condo we had (102E) and would like to reserve the place again. We were there for several days. The only issue we had was that the first night we were there, there was no electricity from 7:00pm until after 12:00am. This ruined dinner and scared the children. The management at the Sea were unapologetic and rude.

July 06, 2005
among the best
The accommodations were good, but the rates exceed the amenities when compared to other resorts in MX. It seems that this is among the best in the port. An inconvenience is that there are not any full menu restaurants within walking distance. The hotel's restaurant has limited hours, the food selection is very limited and is marginal to best.

July 06, 2005
Power and Water
The 1st night the power went off and on a few times, the water wouldn't run for several minutes even after the power came on. It was hot and a little frustrating, especially to see that the other resorts on either side of us had power. Once the power was on though, it was a great time. The resort had everything you could need. You didn't even have to leave. One thing that would've been nice was a Club/Bar in the resort complex. We had to walk to a restaurant and it closed at like 8.45pm. And there was no place to Dance, without going into town. We had a great time and will definetly return, hope this helps.

July 06, 2005
Can't wait to return!
We had a wonderful vacation and are looking forward to coming back. We have recommended this location to several other friends. It is the perfect family getaway.

July 03, 2005
Some Good Some Bad
Our first trip to Rocky Point had some good, some bad. First we found the resort, room, grounds, and beach extremely clean and well maintained. The weather was great and it didn't seem too crowded. Our bad was a power outage we experienced on Saturday. My son was stuck in the elevator for about 30 minutes. When I went down to check on status a bunch of young people were running around that couldn't speak english. A few said we're working on it. Some homeowners association rep finally showed up, but was not helpful at all. He basically made fun of the people complaining and said "this is mexico what do you expect". I was disappointed in this. While this is in Mexico I paid U.S rates and I expect U.S. Service (and found out from my neighboring condo occupants they paid 1/2 the price I did by simply driving up that day). This place needs a Sr Manager on duty at all times that speaks good English. While it is true it is in Mexico it's obvious the revenue comes from the U.S. - they need to understand what U.S. visitors expect and deliver on this, or it will evolve to what the rest of Rocky Point looks like :-( I was also disappointed in the lack of restaurants. A beautiful place - just offer better service.

Again & Again
We stayed at the Sonoran Sea the early part of june and only had 1 day that was too windy to go fishing or para sailing. The Sonoran Sea was a wonderful place to stay. The staff was friendly and courteous. The only thing lacking was more then one telephone at the desk. The view was beautiful and will plan on staying there again next year. The people we booked through were great. Thanks for the swift and complete booking you did for us.

Rude staff at aqua bar
We stayed 4 nights at the Sonoran Sea and had a magnificent time. The check in staff, security guards and the guys at the gate entrance were respectful and friendly. Beautiful resort and breathtaking views! Each time we visited the pool, we encountered rude staff at the aqua bar. My husband waited over 25 min.to order a drink and was frustrated and left. We weren't there during happy hour so it was not busy at the time. I visited twice and each time, got the heavy sigh, obvious eye roll and complete look of disgust from the same bartender when trying to order two drinks. We learned to just bring our own cooler down to the pool area so as not to "bother" the bartenders at the aqua bar. Just had to spend our money on great meals elsewhere in town. Other than that little annoyance, we had a fantastic time.

Great stay a Sonoran Sea
Took the family to Sonoran Sea over Memorial Day weekend....Great Place! Had a 6th floor corner room with a beautiful view of the pools, ocean, and beach. Corner unit had 2 balconies and with both balcony sliders open in the evening we had a very refreshing breeze - never needed the air coditioning. Kitchen, appliances, and bathroom were brand new and spotless. Pools were great and the steak tacos at the swim-up bar were wonderful. We will be back again this summer!

Little Troubles but Great Memories
Had a great time, the condo was nice, clean and well decorated. Had a little trouble with the water being turned off, but we weathered that temporary storm and managed to have a wonderful stay.

Three Night Was Not Enough
Me and my family recently stayed at the Sonoran Sea in Rocky Point. We had a great time. The condo we stayed in was beautiful. We stayed for three nights and that was definitely not enough time. I wish I could have stayed longer. The resort had more than enough amenities. It kept my kids pretty busy. The view from the balcony was beautiful. The balcony was great, me and my husband slept on the balcony,so we heard the ocean waves all night. I am looking forward to going back real soon. Thank you for such a great vacation.

I used to camp on this beach!
As a child growing up I camped on Sandy Beach, and boy was it hot! I can't believe the change in Rocky Point. Our condo was beautiful, luxurious and comfortable! The staff was extremely curteous and everything in the condo was perfect. I also think another restaurant in the area is needed, but going into town is always fun. We had a fabulous time and can't wait to come back.

first time ever
This was our first time staying at a resort we have always rented houses so I was worried about it being crowded and loud but the sea was beautiful as was the condo we loved it so much we want to buy one!!

Great Front Desk Experience
The service at the front desk was very pleasant. Two different gentlemen waited on me two different days and on both occasions they were very curtious and helpful. I had their full attention and they were very helpful with any questions I had. I also noted how they dealt with others and they were always gracious.

Superb!!
Our stay at the Sonoran Sea was superb!! The gentlemen working the front desk and the gate were very curtious and helpful. The condo was wonderful and very tastefully decorated. The view was perfect. The beds were very comfortable, which is an issue for me because of a bad back. We felt very comfortable walking on the beach. Security there was excellent. We ate at the grill located at the resort and the food was delicious! We will be returning to the Sonoran Sea.

Wish I'd stayed longer
Worth every penny. We traveled down with a group and rented 6 rooms from the ground floor on up and they all had spectacular views and where decorated/stocked with all we could think to need from kitchen utensils to DVD players. We've been fortunate enough to travel all over the world and Mexico and this resort is definately at the top of our beach resorts. The weather was great, the staff was awesome, the lobby has a small liquor store, gym, and free internet for 30 min. My only complaints would be that we only stayed 4 nights, there is no restaurant on site, and the swim-up 'agua bar' gets real crowded at happy hour ;-)

A great weekend
This resort is absolutely beautiful. The entire resort is well maintained, has great service, and is very clean. Our view from the very large balcony looking out to the sea was great. The room was very well furnished with everything you can possible need.

WE'LL BE BACK SOOOOOONNNN!
This was our first trip to Rocky Point, and the Sonoran Sea Resort was more than we could have imagined. Just yards from the beautiful torquoise beach, with a gorgeous pool that has everything for young to old. The beaches were clean and beautiful. The condo was beautifully decorated and the resort had everything one could want. The gated property and security guards provided a great peace of mind. The staff was courteous and helpful. We will be back!!!!!

Sonoran Sea
The Sonoran Sea Resort is amazingly beautiful. The beach georgous and clean and the pools fabulous. The condo we rented was very tastfully decorated and the views from the balcony were exceptional. This is a great place for a family vacation. There were alot of families with younger children it did get noisy and crowded on the weekend. So if you are after a peceful getaway this is not the place but if you want fun in the sun and plenty to do and don't mind alot of children then the Sanoran Sea is perfect.

condo accomodations
We loved the condo but were not satisfied with the daily room service. We either did not get clean towels or inadequate amount of towels including the kitchen towel was taken and not replaced. The second shower did not drain from the first day we arrived.

Sonoran Sea
The condo unit, 603E, was fair. The master bedroom door was extremely hard to open and/or close. It is too long & sticks badly when it opens & closes. The drain in the second bath does not drain well. You are standing in ankle deep water throughout your shower, no matter how short. The toilet paper holder was falling off in the master bath and wouldn't hold the tissue roll. The sofa was filthy. Housekeeping didn't leave hand towels in the bathrooms nor did they leave a dish cloth in the kitchen. This unit needs some routine maintenance. The rest of the property was OK. There is a broken mirror in the elevator. The employees, although very friendly and helpful, don't put guests first. We have missed many elevators, which are very small and slow, because employees pushed past to get on first. This was not something we noticed just this trip. This has been a problem all 3 times we have been to the Sea. We are unsure if we will rent again at this point. There are quickly becoming many more options for resort properties in Rocky Point.

Good Experience
We had a great time staying at the Sonoron Sea. Our Condo was incredible!! The furnishings were beautiful. I liked the fact that most of the decor was out of reach for my 2 year old. I will definitely stay there again.

Above our highest expectations!
We just returned from a wonderful vacation experience at the Sonora Sea Resort. The condo was impecable! Gorgeous decor and view of the ocean. The perfect place to relax and enjoy the amenities. I have highly recommended this resort to 4 families that are considering this destination for their vacation. We appreciated the "Family Atmosphere" with out the younger party-crowds! Thank you for a wonderful, relaxing vacation.

Next Time We Will Bring Our Children!
We were five couples traveling to Rocky Point from New Mexico, California and Arizona. We had a terrific time, there was so much to do or you could do nothing at all. We flew from NM to PHX and our friends flew in from CA we all met up and drove into Puerto Penasco in a rented Suburban; we had a blast. As we drove I saw nothing but desert and asked my husband where can a beach possibly be out here. When we reached the beach it was absolutely beautiful. No polution, nice and blue and the sand was white and there was actually sea shells everywhere! What a sight! A friend recommended the Sonoran Sea where we stayed. We stayed on the third floor in a condo owned by Snowbirders from Minnesota. The view from the patio was breathtaking. The condo was beautifuly decorated and had luxurious bedding, furniture and all the comforts of home, a washer/dryer, microwave, great patio furniture and a nice gym. The ocean breeze was fantastic and the sound of the ocean from our bedroom was soothing. We will be back next year to share this oasis in the desert with our children.

Watch your money!
We have stayed at the Sonoran Sea twice now and as far as the resort goes it was very nice. The room we had the first time was much nicer than the second but that's just a lesson learned. The real reason for this reveiw was we had money taken from my fiance's purse during our stay. The wallet was completely emptied of all money and even the change. Make sure you don't leave ANYTHING valuable in your room while out or you can be pretty sure it won't be there when you return.

Perfect Vacation at the Senoran Sea
Had a wonderful vacation at the Sonoran Sea week of 5/23/05. Weather, locale, and accomodations were perfect! This marks 3rd trip to Pt. Penasco and hopefully, the first of many times to this resort. Going outside of premises to eat invited exploring the town which was great. Thanks to all your staff for making our vacation sensational! Margie

Exceptional, but still Rocky Pointe
Beautiful resort. Family friendly. Big pool and spas. Beautiful views. Surrounding ammenities are lacking. A larger convenience store or grocery store is needed. More restaurants too. Rooms are sufficient and clean. Customer service a bit slow. Drunks and kids all night long making too much noise. Kids setting off firecrackers on the beach. Did not sleep well because of the noise. Plenty of security during the day, but none through the night. Overall a very nice vacation.

Memorial Blast
We arrived Friday evening from Phoenix and checked into the Sonoran Sea. We were amazed with the breath taking views and the cleanliness of this resort. The security was just as excellent. We celebrated our 1 year anniversary in Class and Style fairly inexpensive. The pool was beautiful and well maintained. I can't wait until our trip back to Penasco in November, we will never stay anywhere else again. We also endured wonderful massages Saturday morning at the Spa and a fun filled fishing trip on Sunday. Those of you reading my review if you are planning a trip to "Rocky Point" pamper yourself by staying at any of the Sonoran Resorts.

Wonderful
My parents took the whole family to your resort in February and I just wanted to let you know that everything was fantastic. Accomodations, setting, staff and overall vacation was "A" one!!!! Who needs Maui after staying with you!!!!!

Has it all
Our stay at Sonoran Sea was excellent. We enjoyed the comfortable and clean condo along with the beautiful views and amenities.

May 24, 2005

This resort was absolutely perfect. The only reason I didn't give it an excellent was that the resort staff were not very friendly. They never smiled or said hello. Otherwise the facility was beautiful, clean, and very comfortable.

great time
our family was hesitant to travel to mexico, but after the experience we had we now are already planning our next trip. i highly recommend it.

Best Rocky Point vacation ever
Wonderful experience from reservation to checkout. Our most relaxing and beautiful Rocky Point vacation ever.

The BEST of the best
This place is phenominal. Everything you could want and more. I've never stayed or seen or more luxerious place in all of Rocky Point. From the fantastci ocean views, the enormous swimming pools, high-speed computer rooms, to the swim up bar, this place has it all and more. We stayed in room 607 on the west wing, this room is decorated to suit a king. Highly recommended!!!!!

Another great stay
The room was excellent. From natural stone countertops, tile throughout, bottled water, comfortable couches, to beautiful decor this was a pleasant stay. I could visit the old parts of Puerto Penasco I've loved for 20 years and return to a room that felt as comfortable, clean, and luxurious as home. As much as I've loved the "old" Rocky Point, the new growth has brought some wonderfull changes I really appreciate as I get older. With so much more growth planned I wish the timeline could be expedited. Sure would be nice to bring my golf clubs now and play a full 18 (hurry up 2009).

great vacation destination
we have been several times and will be back again soon! the place is beautiful, well maintained, full service resort drive distance from home-what more could you ask for! the beaches are pristine, the pools perfect. we enjoyed both a family vacation and good for a weekend getaway from the kids!

Excellent Accomodations
My wife and I recently stayed (May 2005) at the Sonoran Sea Resort in Rocky Point. We had a beautiful one-bedroom, one bath condo that overlooked the Sea of Cortez. The condo was nicely furnished and had a nice balcony overlooking the pools and the sea. The pools were very nice as was the beach. It was very clean and the staff were both attentive and nice. We would definitely recommend this resort to anyone who wishes to visit Rocky Point. The location (Sandy Beach) was a great location except for the lack of restaurants or stores in the area. Hopefully with all of the development, restaurants and stores will be coming to the Sandy Beach area.

SONORAN SEA
Beautiful place. Beautiful views. Needs another restaurant.

May 10, 2005
As good as it gets!!!
Well, not exactly but the Sanoran Sea is a legitimate resort destination. To say this place is nice for Rocky Point does not do it justice. This place is nice period. Clean, Secure, beautiful we will be back again and again. Small piece of Paradise.

Sonoran Sea Review
Our room was fabulous - everything there for us. Only problem was that the DVD player in master bedroom did not work. Small matter but if it is there for our use then it should be in working order. We stayed in condo 711 at the Sonoran Sea resort. Will be back again soon.

Sonoran Sea Review
We have stayed at the Sonoran Sea 3 times in the past 6 weeks and enjoyed our stay. However we feel the maintenance needs to be addressed. A fan and lights in one unit didn't work. In the other unit the dishwasher and the toilet seat didn't work. In the third unit the toilet seat was broken and someone threw up on our patio and we asked to have it cleaned but we ended up cleaning it ourselves because nobody showed up all day to clean it. In spite of these thing we like our time with you but hope these issues get more attention in the future. See you again...........Cathy

Sonora Sea Resort
We were immediately impressed with the construction and decor of our room and the condo. As with a lot of the accomodations in Mexico, the plumbing - especially drainage - was a problem in our room. Also, on the third day of our stay we awoke to an ever-increasing puddle in our hallway from upstairs or our water heater or clothes washer. We never got a service person to fix it, we checked out before anyone ever showed up. Also- for the amount of people that these condo/resorts service, you would think there would be a whole lot more eating establishments in the area of Sandy Beach. And the ones that were sparsely located in the area were also extremely small. The beach is very accessible and overall we enjoyed the three-day trip.

AWESOME
If you have not visited Sonoran Sea, you have to do yourself a favor and get out there. Forget the price, it is worth it. Their swim-up bar is phenomenal. Make sure you get there for 2 for 1 happy hour from 5-6pm. If you get bored, run off into the ocean. At night, we just sat on our balcony overlooking the ocean. What a blast. I am going back on my next vacation.
